Course Policies and Enrollment Terms

At Sixth City CPR, we are committed to providing a stress-free and efficient learning environment. To help us maintain this, please ensure you arrive prepared with all required pre-course work and documentation completed.

Important Notes for Students:

• Active Provider Card Requirement: Students must have a current, non-expired provider card to be eligible for any renewal class. If your provider card has expired, you will need to complete an initial provider course or the AHA HeartCode® program before attending a renewal class.
• Pre-Course Work for ACLS and PALS Renewal Classes: Completion of pre-course work, including the free modules and the free pre-course assessment, is mandatory for all ACLS and PALS renewal classes. This helps save valuable time during the course and ensures the session runs efficiently. If you need help locating this material, please visit our resources page. 
• Proof of Pre-Course Work Completion: Proof of completion for all pre-course work (free modules and pre-course assessment) must be presented upon arrival to gain admittance into ACLS and PALS renewal classes.
• HeartCode® Skills Sessions: After completing the online portion of the HeartCode® course (purchased through the AHA), students can schedule a skills session with Sixth City CPR. Please register for the skills session separately.
• Initial ACLS or PALS Provider Course: If you need to take an initial ACLS or PALS provider course (usually 2 full days), we can recommend options. Most large hospital systems offer these courses. We also offer private group sessions for initial provider courses upon request. While HeartCode® is often used for renewal courses, it can also be used as an option for individuals who are taking the course for the first time
• Provider Manuals Are Required: All students must have the appropriate AHA provider manuals for their class. These manuals are essential for completing coursework and for future reference. Manuals can be purchased online from AHA.

Our Advice for the Quickest and Most Affordable Option:

• To save both time and money, we strongly recommend staying current with your certification and taking renewal courses before your card expires. For example, our ACLS Renewal Class is only $165, and with all pre-course work completed ahead of time, class time is drastically reduced.
• If your card does expire, or if you prefer the HeartCode®, please note the cost difference: you'll pay $168 to the AHA for the online portion, plus $140 for the Sixth City CPR skills session, totaling $308. This is significantly higher than the cost of a regular update course.
• While the HeartCode® option is perfectly valid—especially for those who are less comfortable with the material and prefer a more comprehensive review—the content is the same whether you're an initial provider or someone who has taken ACLS for years.
• We understand that the AHA’s course layouts and options can be confusing. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us for clarification on the best path for you.
